The seed of Tequila 1824 Casta Antigua was planted in August 2009 when Omar and Zandra Castañeda took their honeymoon trip to Mexico. Excited to share his Mexican heritage, Omar booked a Tequila distillery tour in the historic town of Tequila, Jalisco.
Up until that trip, they had yet to experience the true essence of a distinguished tequila. The Castañedas left with a new-found appreciation for the age-old spirit and the idea, that one day, they could bring back an exceptional Tequila worthy of sharing with the world. Fueled by their passion for cultural traditions, exceptional Tequilas, and the desire to be business owners, The Castañedas set on their journey to make that idea a reality. Years of hard work, dedication, and financial sacrifices allowed for their vision to come to fruition.
They are proud to share that their business has been 100% self-funded, family owned, and family operated. Residing in greater Austin they are setting the standard for locally owned brands in quality and taste. They are forever grateful to the countless family members and friends that have joined them in this journey by collaborating ideas, encouraging and supporting them, and by spreading the word of their exceptional Tequila.
“Only one thing is better than our Tequila, and that is great memories with family and friends.”
Salud!
